Development Facilitator & Development Assistant
Who are we?
The overall goal of Vanuatu Aquatics Federation (VAF) is to provide the opportunity for members to develop the life skill of swimming in an open and supportive environment. The grassroots program will focus on developing learn to swim programs and swim clubs on the island of Efate and its offshore islands. Our goals are to:
- Encourage children and young people to participate in swimming programs that incorporate safety and life skills development
- Support village swim instructors and school teachers in developing their own learn to swim programs and club competitions
- Provide training courses to increase local knowledge of swim instruction, water safety and surf life saving
- Engage provincial education and sports development officers, VASANOC, and other stakeholders in the implementation of programs.
Vacancies
We are hiring a Development facilitator and an Development assistant to complete our current team to:
- Deliver daily programs to communities and schools around Efate and its offshore islands.
- Support the delivery of train the trainer courses to swim instructor and water polo volunteer coach candidates across Vanuatu, providing equal opportunity to all
- Mentor trainees in communities and schools so they can eventually deliver their own programs
- Organise the logistic operations of the outreach program and training programs on a day to day basis
- Engage communities in discussions and continued lesson learning and improvements of outreach programs
- Collect survey data with support from VAF instructors
- Support the running of events in VAF pool venue and open water, ensuring they are safe and accessible to people with disability, women and girls
Experiences & qualification required:
- And/or experience in teaching/ running swim events or other sport events
- And/or experience in implementing community programs
- And/or experience mentoring individuals and/or groups.
- Completed High School Level 12 an advantage but not necessary
- Completed or In Progress of Let’s Swim or Swim Australia Swim Instructor Course
- Completed or In Progress of First Aid and CPR
- Police clearance, 3-character references about working with children
